Spring 2025 - A Stable Word

It was a miserable day. It was cold, windy, and rainy. I think we even had snow mixing in that day. I looked for the horses, and they were all huddled together in their run-in shed in their pasture. I went out to them and even though I was wet, cold, and windblown, they were warm, dry, and calm. This shelter was protecting them from the harsh elements outside. Psalm 91:1 says, “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” The Hebrew word for shelter is “cether” which means a covering, a hiding place, protection. When we choose to dwell in the covering of the Most High God, then when the winds and storms of life come, we will be able to rest - knowing that He is protecting and hiding us in His care. Just as the horses were warm, calm, and safe in their shelter, we are too when we dwell in the shelter of our God.
