For being known as a “blue collared” community, Kokomo sure knows how to “dress up” and “step up” when it comes to supporting at-risk youth in our community! I’m not sure where the money comes from, but when Jesus is involved, miracles happen! Once again, we surpassed our goal of $100,000! We have watched miracle after miracle as the Lord has gathered His people to construct this little piece of heaven on earth called Narrow Gate Horse Ranch to comfort hurting kids. We also know that, “God loves a cheerful giver.” Smiles and laughter filled the room as guests opened their pocket books and battled for the highest bid on live auction items, silent auction items, and winning horses. The big hats, big trophies, beautiful dresses, and professional portraits unveiled this “Cinderella” community for the “Princess” that she truly is. One with a big heart
Our premier event, “Battle of the Baskets,” engaged over 25 churches and small businesses from as far north as Elkhart to get their creative juices flowing, decide on a theme (or not) and fill baskets to die for! Then they generously donated the baskets brimming with goodies from camping gear, to cookware, to Indy 500 tickets, and more before battling it out to win a silent auction basket of their choosing….often their own! Ultimately, the gold trophy went to Travis Harvey of Harvey Construction for the highest bid with Pastor Keith Chanley and Kokomo Zion Church winning the “Team Building/Leadership” session donated by Narrow Gate Horse Ranch for their ministry team or up to seven people of their choosing. The FREE leadership/team building experience at the ranch is valued at $2,000! We sure hope you and your church will join the battle next year!!
A special thank you to everyone who participated in the silent auction:
Our sponsors have never once asked, “What do I get for my sponsorship?” They see the need. They give from their hearts. The Derby Ball is more than a FUNdraiser!
We could not do what we do without the help of our generous sponsors. A HUGE thank you to everyone who supports our mission:
