NGHR is so blessed and thankful to have such an AMAZING volunteer team! This month we want to thank Jenny Sewell for her years of committed ministry to the kids who come to the ranch.

Jenny is a faithful example of serving Christ. Jenny’s heart to serve the Lord comes out as she ministers to the kids, their families, encourages other volunteers, and cares for the horses.

I sweet talked Jenny into picking a favorite horse. “I don’t like to pick favorites,” she laughed. However, when forced, she said she’d pick Reno. “He’s dominant in his herd, but he’s also just gentle and responsive. He seems to know if there is a timid kid with him.” That’s Jenny. She’s always thinking about the kids - and their families. She is a natural at offering a friendly smile and interacting with students and families with kindness. She is the welcome of Narrow Gate as she schedules classes and helps everything stay on time.

Why do you serve the Lord at Narrow Gate, Jenny? Why here?

It seemed to be a good fit for me  - serving God through horses for kids and their families. It’s a good place for me to shine my little light.

What has surprised you at the ranch?

I’m surprised just how much the horses do reflect God’s nature. We talk about it, but when you get to see it… that’s amazing.

What do you want to say to people who think they’d like to help but aren’t sure how?

Fill out an application, and schedule a visit! It is best to see it for yourself! There’s a place for everyone.

I found I didn't want our conversation to end. As we sat there at the noisy coffee shop, I sipped my coffee and lingered over discussions of hymns and creation and the Lord. She is happy to serve the Lord any way she can. It’s beautiful.

She summed up her heart in this ministry by quoting her  late brother, Terry Gotshall. “I believe God created everything in nature to remind us of Him and that He is very real.”

Narrow Gate Horse Ranch agrees with you, Jenny!
